MADONNA AND CHILD

This group with the Madonna and Child is almost identical to the central motif in the composition by Cima da Conegliano entitled The Madonna with Child, St. Christina and St. Francis from the private collection in Nivagaard, Copenhagen. The Madonna and Child from the city museum in Padua, which is attributed to Girolamo di Bernardino da Udine may be regarded as a similar copy.

Provenance: acquired by A. V. Stankevich in Italy in the 1850s; acquired from Ye. V. Gabrichevskaya (Moscow) in 1917. Later transferred to the Rumyantsev Museum (Moscow); in the Pushkin Museum since 1924.
