TWO MEN BY A COLUMN
Fragment of a composition horizontal in format depicting a scene from the story of Susanna. The painter was identified as Lorenzo Costa by F.Dzeri. He also identified other fragments of the picture – in the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore and in the Chrysler Art Museum in Norfolk (Virginia, USA)
Provenance: acquired in Italy by P.P.Vyazemskii in the mid-19th century, held in the Ostafievo estate near Moscow (collection of the Vyazemskii-Sheremetievs); transferred from the Ostafievo museum-estate to the Pushkin Museum in 1930.
