MADONNA AND CHILD WITH POMEGRANATE
Originally this panel was rectangular in shape; the semi-circular top is not original.
As early as the 1930s, V.N.Lazarev had identified it as a work by the Florentine artist, Neri di Bicci. Several variants of this composition are known, for which the works of Bicci di Lorenzo served as models.
Provenance: in the collection of P.I. and V.A. Kharitonenko (Moscow) until 1919; it was later transferred to the State Museums Foundation; in the Rumyantsev Museum after 1921 and in the Pushkin Museum since 1924.
