THE MARRIAGE AT CANA
This composition can be traced to a canvas signed and dated 1660, the whereabouts of which are currently unknown (in 1934 it figured at the sale of the Bukowski collection in Stockholm). Two other variants are in the Capodimonte Museum (Naples) and the Vicenza Pinacoteca. The composition common to all three works reflects impressions of canvases by Paolo Veronese with depictions of banquets.
Provenance: in the collection of L.K. Zubalov (Moscow) until 1914; presented by his son L.I. Zubalov to the Rumyanstev Museum in 1917; in the Pushkin Museum since 1924.
