MAGINI, CARLO
STILL LIFE WITH BREAD AND HAM
Signature bottom left on a folded sheet of paper: A Monsieur Carlo Magini peintre à Fano.
Magini developed the theme of the kitchen still life with a limited range of objects which he transposed from one picture to another. He used canvases of both horizontal and vertical format and as a rule they were of a similar size. Nevertheless, the artist skilfully avoided any monotony or repeats.
Provenance: acquired by the Pushkin Museum from E.M.Nepalo (Moscow) in 2001.
