ROSSELLO DI JACOPO FRANCHI
MADONNA AND CHILD WITH SAINTS
It was acquired by the Rumyantsev Museum as the work of a Siena master. Muratov attributed it to the Verona school of the first half of the 15th century. It was identified by N.I.Romanov, before transfer to the Pushkin Museum, as a work by the Florentine artist Rossello di Jakopo Franchi. The artist's preoccupation with decorative motifs reflects the influence of Lorenzo Monaco's work.
Provenance: donated in 1903 by D.I.Shchukin (Moscow) to the Rumyantsev Museum; in the Pushkin Museum since 1924.
